Imam Hamzah Ghia | Director of Operations

Hafidh Hamzah is a University of Houston alumni with a Masters in Accounting. He has extensive experience as a teacher and youth director in the Muslim community. He served as an Imam and Quran teacher for over a decade right here in Houston. He memorized the Quran at the age of nine at Madresa Islamia under Qari Hashim and completed his ijaza with Sh. Uthman Khan and Sh. Syed El- Abdullah. Most recently he served as the Dean of Student Affairs at Brighter Horizons Academy and Imam at Klein Islamic Center.

Along with being teacher, Hafidh Hamzah works with different MSA’s, communities, and is a motivational speaker. He also focuses on Tarbiyah with youth from all over the city

Mufti Abdul Wahab Waheed

Mufti Abdul Wahab Waheed was born and raised in Ann Arbor, MI. He began Islamic studies at Jaamiah al-Uloom al-Islamiyyah in Canada where he became a Hafiz at the age of 11. Upon the completion of his Tahfeedhul Ul Quran, Mufti Abdul Wahab decided to continue his studies in Islamic sciences. He started his 7-year Shariah program in Toronto, Canada, and went even further to pursue higher education of Hadith in Karachi, Pakistan. Mufti Abdul Wahab completed his Hadith Intensive at the Islamic University founded by Sheikh Yusuf Binori RA known as Jamia Binoritown, where he had the fortune of studying under teachers who had received their Ijaazat from Al- Azhar, Madina University, and Ummul Qura. Upon graduation, Mufti Abdul Wahab wanted to pursue his passion in understanding and education in the field of Islamic Jurisprudence and Law. He started his studies at Al Ihsan Institute located in Vancouver, B.C., specializing in Islamic Jurisprudence and Iftā’ under his professors while simultaneously teaching Fiqh and Hadith in the same school. Mufti Abdul Wahab is a Co-founder at Miftaah Institute and also is a Co-Founder and Director at Michigan Islamic Institute.

Sheikh Ahmad Rahmani

Sheikh Ahmad Rahmani completed his memorization of the Quran at the age of 15 in Buffalo, NY. Afterwards, he spent 2 years in India studying Arabic. Then he began his Aalimiyyah education at Qalam Institute. After graduating from Qalam, he began teaching at Hamd. In his spare time, he likes to post about books and articles on his website Kutubnotes.


Sheikh Affan Ahmad

Affan Ahmed was born in Houston, Texas. He began Islamic studies at Madrasah Islamiah in Houston, Texas, where he became a Hafidh at the age of 12 under the guidance of Qari Ahmed Siddiq. Upon completing his Tahfeedhul Ul Quran, he chose to continue his studies in Islamic sciences. He embarked on a 7-year Alimiyyah course in Warren, Michigan, and further pursued higher education in Hadith in Karachi, Pakistan. He obtained his Ijazah in Hadith in the six major books at the Islamic University founded by Sheikh Mohammed Yusuf al Hasani al Binnori (RA), known as Binoritown. Here, he had the privilege of studying under teachers who had received their Ijaazat from Al-Azhar, Madina University, and Ummul Qura.

Ustadh Arsalan Majid

Arsalan Majid is the Imam of Cypress Islamic Center and currently an instructor at Hamd and Suhbah. He is a Houstonian who has engaged himself in studying the religion from a young age. He memorized the Quran at Madrasah Islamiyyah in Houston, TX at the age of 20 and pursued multiple ijaazahs in Hafs thereafter. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology while minoring in biology from the University of Houston with plans to attend medical school but decided to pursue further Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Medinah. For six years, he engaged in intensive study, both in a formal university setting with his required classes but also in the private and public classes of local scholars where he memorized and covered multiple classical texts in various sciences. He graduated with a Bachelors in Islamic Law and Legal Theory in 2018 and has been teaching Arabic, Fiqh and various sciences in Houston ever since.

Maulana Haris Patel

Maulana Haris Patel, a seasoned member of our team with two decades of dedicated service to the Houston community. Maulana Haris completed his Hifz (memorization of the Quran) and Alimiyah (Islamic scholarship) in India. For over 15 years, he has been a cornerstone of our Houston community, serving as the Imam at Computer Expo (Madinah Masjid) and offering private instruction. His commitment to sharing knowledge and nurturing a sense of community is truly admirable, and we are privileged to have him as an esteemed member of our team.

Sister Aneela Padela

Aneela Padela, has been teaching Quran for the past 25 years. During her free time she enjoys furthering her studies in Quran and Hadith. She is a valued member of our team and enjoys passing on her knowledge to her students.


Sister Susan Abdullah

Susan Abdullah, a valued member of our team with a solid educational foundation and extensive teaching expertise. Susan holds an associate degree in teaching methods, a bachelor's degree in Islamic studies with a minor in Arabic language, and a prestigious Tajweed al Quran certificate (ejaza) in Hafs bin Asim. With over 25 years of teaching experience in Arabic and Quran studies, Susan plays a pivotal role in nurturing our students' understanding and proficiency in these disciplines.

Sister Heba Fadl

Heba Fadl has Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering with a specialization in Telecommunication. Her extensive background includes serving as a Supervisor Engineer at a prominent Telecommunication Company in Sudan, as well as sharing her knowledge as an Islamic school teacher in Houston and an Arabic & Quran instructor in Cypress. Heba's qualifications encompass a Diploma in Shariaa and Fiqh, Tajweed certification, Arabic grammar expertise, and multiple ijzaat.

Brother Talha Khawaja

Talha Khawaja has a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering and is a Texas certified teacher. He has been teaching for the past 8 years and is currently serving as the academic lead at Hamd Institute.

Sister Marwah Khan

Marwah Khan holds a Bachelor's degree in Media and English Creative Writing from the United Kingdom and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in the United States. With international work experience as an assistant teacher during the pandemic and as an assistant producer at a news channel, she has refined her skills. Marwah serves as one of our academic teachers, bringing her expertise to our educational institution.

Sister Yusra Qadri-Bari

Yusra Qadir-Bari has a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Elmhurst University, and is a Chicago native who has a passion for painting in her spare time. Following her marriage, she made Houston her new home and currently serves as one of our academic teachers at Hamd Institute.

Sister Atrubah Khan

Atrubah Khan is a dedicated individual with a passion for education and a deep love for the Islamic environment. With a rich background in education, Atrubah gained valuable experience from a previous Islamic school, where they honed their skills and developed a profound understanding of the importance of imparting knowledge in an environment that aligns with the Islamic values.
