Shaykh Affan Ahmed

Shaykh Affan was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where he began his journey in Islamic education at Madrasah Islamiah. He memorized the Qur’an by the age of 12 under the mentorship of Qārī Ahmad Siddiq. Inspired by a lifelong passion for sacred knowledge, he pursued the ʿĀlimiyyah program at Michigan Islamic Institute, completing a rigorous 6-year curriculum in Islamic sciences. He then traveled to Karachi, Pakistan, where he earned a Master’s in Islamic Sharīʿah from the renowned Jāmiʿah Binorī Town. There, he received ijāzah in all six major books of ḥadīth, studying under leading scholars with chains of transmission connected to al-Azhar, Madinah University, and Umm al-Qurā.

Affan also holds ijāzah in Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim and Shuʿbah ʿan ʿĀṣim through the Ṭayyibah and Sharibiyyah routes, and is continuing his studies in other Qirā’āt. Alongside teaching and engaging in community and youth programs, Affan is also pursuing studies in psychology and counseling, aiming to enrich his Islamic work with insights from mental health and therapeutic practice to better support today’s Muslim youth.
